Our Website and ROES program have options that allow you to work with your image’s ratio and the size print you are ordering.
When you see cropping, it results from the image file size not being proportionate to the print size being ordered. If the system were to simply fit the image into the print size full bleed, a skewed and distorted print would result.
In these instances, you will want to:
1) Choose what parts of the image will be cropped by clicking on it when it’s placed in the print and moving it to your liking. On the website, you can do this after you click “Add to Cart” on the Order Prints page or within the Shopping Cart itself by clicking “Edit Crop” under the print thumbnail.
2) Choose a different template size until you find one that is a closer fit to the size of the original image. For instance, in this example, you could go back and choose the 8” x 12” template.
3) Or, you can choose to use the Crop or Fit button.
In ROES only, you can choose to have the image “Fit” by clicking on the Crop or Fit button below the template in ROES. This button formats your image to fit within the print template you choose. This helps you avoid having to crop your image, but it does result in your final print having two white borders to make up the difference in size. Be careful, though! The white borders on the template will print; you will need to trim that off in your studio.
The image below demonstrates what happens when you use the “Crop or Fit” option through ROES. The image is forced to fit inside the print template while keeping its correct shape.
If you are unaware, the ROES program is a desktop application that works directly with your computer to create and send orders to our lab. It is an online catalog-based system, but you do not need an Internet connection to create orders—only to send them. The ROES program is completely separate from the website ordering system. So, where do you get the ROES program? Is it already working if I'm using youir site? Do I have do download/access it elsewhere? HELLO!
Hi Kathi! I sincerely apologize for the trouble you are experiencing. This article has been edited to now include more information on what ROES is and includes a link to download ROES. ROES is completely separate from the website and is a system you physically download to your computer. Thank you for contacting us and providing us with your feedback! It is truly appreciated as we want to be sure our clients are able to navigate through our site and ROES with no issues. I am happy to hear you were able to figure ROES and locate the crop to fit option. Unfortunately at this time this option is not available on the website. However, great news! We are currently working on implementing this feature to the website so that will be coming soon!
In regards to the pricing, whenever we run a sale on any item, the sale prices are valid through ROES and the website. However, if you happened to have ROES open prior to the sale launch, you will not see the sale prices appear unless you restart the system. Or, it could have been a glitch. In this instance, we would recommend clearing the ROES cache. To do this, simply click Home in the upper right corner> Diagnostic Tools in the upper bottom corner> Clear Caches> Choose to Clear Both Caches. ROES will stall for a moment but will shut down, simply reopen the program.
