Metal Prints are a newer type of wall decor rapidly gaining popularity! Metal Prints are considered to be the most vibrant of all print media. Our metal prints have a white base, allowing for intense color vibrancy and seamless gradations. They also come in one standard finish, which is glossy.
The metal printing process ensures your image(s) become vibrant works of art with ultra-high-definition colors and a unique luminescence appearance. This is created by infusing your image onto a 2 mm aluminum plate using a printing process called Dye Sublimation. The metal plates that we use have a white base and utilize a special coating to maximize bright whites and produce a wider gamut and less ambering than their competitors.
Our metal prints come in various square and rectangle sizes ranging from 4x6" to 24x36". Please note that we do not offer any circular shapes.
We currently offer two different types of metal prints: Metal Prints and Metal Print Standoffs. As you read through this article, we will discuss the differences between the two!

PLEASE NOTE: The Metal Easels are not meant to be used to hang your Metal Print on a wall.
They will not support the weight of the print. If used as a wall hanger, you do risk the chance
of the Metal Print falling and getting damaged. Nations Photo Lab will not be responsible for
any replacements.
-
Black Shadow Mounts: Black Shadow Mounts are a square mounting option intended for small to medium-sized Metal Prints. The mount is made from wood and is black. FAQs:
Q: Are custom sizes available for Metal Prints?
A: No. Metal Prints are pre-cut in set sizes. Due to the durable aluminum material, we cannot trim or cut them to allow custom-size prints.
Q: Can I change or remove the hanging hardware?
A: Yes! In the editor, click "Options & Add-Ons" in the left-side menu. Then, click "Change" to update or remove your hanging hardware.
If you have already submitted your order, please contact us immediately to see if it can be changed.
Q: Can I print a black-and-white image on a Metal Print?
A: Yes, but please be aware that your print may arrive with a slight tint in color due to the possible variations that can occur with the dye-sublimation process. For more information on the dye sublimation process, click here.
Q: Is there a bleed for Metal Prints?
A: Yes, there can be up to 1/8” bleed from each side.
Q: What hanging hardware is complementary to each other?
A: If you are ordering a mix of small/medium-format and large-format metal prints, we advise ordering the Black Shadow Mount and the Float Mount Hanger to complement each other. They both provide a parallel half-inch standoff from the wall.
Q: Are Metal Prints or Metal Print Standoffs magnetic?
A: No, they are not magnetic.
Q: Are Metal Prints considered waterproof?
A: Metal Prints are created by infusing specially formulated dyes onto paper, then using heat to infuse the ink into gas onto the surface of aluminum sheets, making them waterproof!
Q: Can I write on Metal Prints with Sharpies markers, paint pens, or dry-erase markers?
A: Yes, you can!
Q: What is the surface quality of the metal substrate?
A: The metal substrate used in production has tiny bumps and imperfections that make each piece truly unique. Our Quality Control team will only order a reprint if an imperfection distracts from the image itself.
