Creating a collage is a fun way to document important memories, from favorite trips to memories made with your best friends, and everything in between. It can seem daunting at first, but with our ROES software, creating a collage is actually quite simple!
**Please advise, collages cannot be ordered through the web ordering system. It is currently only available for order in our ROES desktop application**
To start, you’ll open your ROES (if you don’t have it or are unsure as to what ROES is, you can view more information and can download it here) and log in. If this is your first time, your username is your customer ID and your password is the same password you use to login on the website. Once you are signed in, you will click on Order Products located in the upper right corner of the ROES window.
Once on the Order Products page, it is time to select your catalog! Catalogs refer to the categories in the drop-down menu in the top left of the screen. Collage prints are located in one of the top six photo paper catalogs. You will just need to select the paper type you wish to print on and whether or not you would like color corrections. For the purpose of this tutorial, we will be using metallic prints with color correction.
Here you can see the various items available under the color-corrected metallic prints. Towards the center of the image, you will see Collage Prints. This is what you will need to click on to begin creating your collage.
Once you have selected Collage Prints, you will now select your size. We have 15 sizes available, from 4x4” mini collages to 30x24” large collages. Whatever memories you’re looking to preserve, we definitely have a size that suits your needs! For the purpose of this tutorial, we will be using a 15x30” print.
Once you select your print size, you can select the layout for the collage print. There are several options that you can scroll through. We will be using the 10-image layout for this tutorial.
For those who have not used ROES before, you’ll need to add the folder where your images are located on your computer. This folder may be called My Pictures, or you may have created a folder for your prints. Once you add that folder you will see your prints displayed.
Once your folder of photos has opened, you can now begin adding your files into the collage template. To do so, simply drag and drop an image into the image node within the collage template.
Once you’ve added your first photo, it may appear to be rotated incorrectly, depending on the size of the frame. You can rotate it using the rotate tools shown here. The top line shows you the zoom and the rotation arrows, and the bottom line shows you the actual tilt of the image. Here it is shown at 0, but you can tilt the image however you would like.
Be advised that when we rotate the image, we will be cropping off part of the image, unless we change the size of the bounding box.
To change the size of the image node (the spot on the collage where your image can be clicked and dragged) you will need to click the Edit button first. This button is beneath the hand icon in the upper left corner, and looks like four arrows. From there, you will hover over the image and notice 8 blue dots appear around the edge of the image node. To change the image node, you will hover your cursor over one of the blue dots, click, and drag to adjust the size. You may do this for one or all of the nodes. This will enable you to fully customize your collage.
Once you have loaded all of your photos into your collage, you will see several options on the right hand side. You can change the coloration of any of the images to black and white or sepia tones. Selecting one of these options will only change the color of that photo, not the others.
You will also have an option to add an outline, or image stroke, to all of the images on the collage print. You can select your color options from all of the varieties available. The same color options are also present if you wish to add a background color to your print.
Once you’ve added your stroke and background, you can choose mounting. If you are choosing to display this image on your wall or in a frame, you can add one of our backing options to the print. You can learn more about our mounting options through our YouTube video.
Once you are satisfied with your collage print, you can click the Add to Cart button and begin the checkout process!
